UPDATE in February 2018: With the current situation in Qatar (where the UAE and Saudi have banned Qatari people from entering their countries and blocking certain airspace), expat teachers have told me that the situation on the ground is the same as ever. However, travel in and out of the country has become more cumbersome and expensive.
