Frequently Asked Questions
Who is this ebook for?
This book is for a qualified teacher (Early Years, primary, secondary, or Further Education lecturer) who is happy to move abroad for at least 2 years, become an expat teacher, and save between €40,000 to €220,000 in 2-6 years. Yes, those figures are correct- as an expat teacher, you can save AT LEAST €20,000 a year from working abroad. Ignore those naysayers that say it isn’t possible. I am proof that you can do this, because that is exactly what I did and continue to do, and what allowed me to leave teaching this year and focus full-time on the services I provide as part of Empowering Expat Teachers, while still living in Dubai.
What’s new in 2.0?
I have made lots of changes to the first edition of this book, which I released on Amazon back in 2018, so it's about 10 pages longer!
Reflecting the times, I have added a chapter solely dedicated to how expat teaching has changed in the last 20 years, including the impact of COVID. I carried out a lot of research on this, so I hope you find it as interesting as I did! That is in Chapter 2.
Next, I have updated the information for Early Career Teachers (ECTs), formerly known as Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs), to reflect the changes in the programme and implications for expat teachers (Chapter 8).
In this edition, the UAE has had some big legal changes in terms of cohabiting couples as well as introducing their own Teaching Licensing System, in order for all qualified teachers to legally work there- more about that in Chapter 2!
I have also added brand new chapters on:
- CV and cover letter tips for specific groups of teachers (Chapter 4)
- The Ultimate Empowering Expat Teachers Packing Hacks Guide (Chapter 13)
- The Ultimate Empowering Expat Teachers Guide to Settling into Your First Month in Your New Home! (Chapter 14)
- Looking after your expat teacher wellbeing (Chapter 15)
Finally, this edition of the ebook comes with exclusive bonuses and masterclasses.
